Behind the Book
A group of Falcon employees had a wonderful morning on January 9th volunteering at P.S. 125 Ralph Bunche School in Harlem, NY. Volunteering at Behind the Book, part of our NYC Corporate Social Responsibilities efforts, was an opportunity to participate in a tremendous program that inspires a love for reading in the NYC public school system through writing workshops, field trips and author visits. Ibi Zoboi’s book “My Life as an Ice Cream Sandwich,” as well as a trip to the American Museum of Natural History, were the sources of inspiration for these 4th and 5th graders that participated in writing assignments based on space travel and technology. Falcon employees served as writing coaches and soundboards for the students as their imaginations flowed to create amazing stories. At the end of the program, each student was provided a copy of the book designed by professionals working pro bono alongside Behind the Book. The students also a signed copy of the book for the writing coach who worked with them in the classroom. For more information on Behind The Book, please visit their website at www.behindthebook.org.
